Here is part 3 of my training camp updates. As I have said before, I haven't even scratched the surface of all I could say, but hopefully I have told just enough to pique your interest, teach you a little something, or given you something to think about.

This blog post is going to contain a few of the poems that I wrote while at training camp. God has been subtly using poems in my life for some time now, and this week, He truly upped the ante, flipping my poem-writing switch up to 110%. Prior to this week, I wrote maybe 1 or 2 poems a week. But at camp, I wrote 22 poems in 8 days! He really wanted to teach me something (or a lot of somethings)! More than that, though, He taught me that I cannot live scared, shy, or silent. That which He gives, I must share. To that end, here is a small selection of poems that I wrote at different times throughout the past week (except for the last one). I hope you enjoy them. I pray that God uses them!

Know the Cost

Know the cost of what you ask

Following, no easy task

Put you on another path

What you have now, you’ll soon lack

Leave possessions all behind

Leave your family on My time

Leave your self, with Me abide

Give to Me, and life you’ll find

Accept It Already

God, I must have Your embrace

God, I need Your acceptance

God, I crave Your desire

God, I’m wrecked without Your love

I know these things are all true

This is the reality

In my heart I do not doubt

So why can’t I accept it?

Can a pariah be touched?

Or can an outcast be hugged?

Can a lost one be talked to?

A loser be lifted up?

Oh great God, You tell me, “no!”

I’m none of those awful things

Bye, my false identity

I’m clinging to me Father

Oh Your hands are on the move

You’ve shown me in abundance

Your love and Your deep embrace

I’ll accept it finally

Nature Cries Out

I was walking all alone

On a hiking trail back home.

In awe of what surrounded,

The peacefulness astounded.

Can’t believe what He had made,

No mistake His hand betrayed.

O’er the songs I heard a sound,

Dropped my earbuds to look ‘round.

Not one soul was in my sight,

The strange music kept its flight.

The song seemed old, felt so rare,

No noise of man could compare.

As I searched, I found the source,

The Earth came alive in force.

Everything around me moved,

Their love for God would be proved.

The rocks jumped right off the ground,

To the earth, no longer bound.

The wind grew warm and wild,

Sped like a hyper child.

It flew past the scenery,

Encouraged the greenery.

The tall grass sparked a fire,

Grew with hungry desire.

The sight scared me at first glance,

But the flame was a romance.

The passion mysterious,

The damage not serious.

The clouds formed a giant grin,

Convincing all to join in.

The sky opened up its jaws,

Let out thundering applause.

Even the strong ancient trees,

Fell down to their kingly knees.

All my life I lived for me,

Failed to be a devotee.

Never served the God who saves,

His creation gave Him praise.

I was silent, far too long,

Nature sung my Father’s song.

Heart in my chest, beat so loud,

Soul humbled, no longer proud.

Nature showed, there must be more,

Call to act, I can’t ignore.
